Signed, bottom left 'Dorothy S Hallet' and titled and dated bottom right 'Shadza & Che-ka 1939'. Interestingly and no doubt in recognition Shadza was the name given Empress Tzu Hsi favourite dog painted by Miss Carl, after the Boxer revolution. English,circa 1939.
