1 ) “Follette” the artist’s Bull Terrier by Louis Eugène Ginain (French, 1818-1886)
“Follette”, an oil on canvas of the artist’s much loved Bull Terrier standing in a plain landscape by Louis Eugène Ginain (French , 1818-1886). This pampered Terrier dog wears a red leather collar with gold details. Titled, in gold, top left “Follette” and signed bottom left in red “Eug Ginain”. The canvas stretched on a wood frame is stamped "TOILES à PEINDRE & COULEURS FINES MOIRINAT PARIS 184 Faubourg Saint Honoré", famed Parisian art supplier. Ginain painted several images of his beloved Follette, one, a life size image, in 1879 that was to be his farewell to the Paris Salon.
