“La Foret” an elegant hammered and patinated black wrought iron fire screen with openwork decoration depicting leaping wild boar and dear amongst an interlacing foliage of oak leaves and acorns. The decoration edged by Brandt’s Assyrian scrollwork. Stamped “E Brandt”. French, circa 1925.

Rare Japanese, Hokusai, inspired elephant handled vase, by Amédée de Caranza for Jules Vieillard & Cie. On a blie geometric ground, with central Hokusai inspire and two elephant head handles. The design is illustrated in Jacqueline du Pasquier 2015 book "Vieillard & Cie, Histoire de la faïencerie fine de Bordeaux", plate 111, on page 142. See also Bordeaux 1986, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, exhibition catalogue 'J. Vieillard & Cie. Eclectisme et Japonisme', edited by Jacqueline du Pasquier. A Hokusai plate is in the collection of the British Museum. French, circa 1880.

A circa 1930’s bronze of a recumbent Llama by Romano Espinoza Cáceda (Peruvian, 1898-1957). Cast in the B. Campaiola Foundry in Lima, Peru. In 1937 he participated in the 1st Hall of the Independents of Lima in the Palace of the Exhibition of the Municipality of Lima, where he presented six sculptures, highlighting: Faun and Nymph, Llamas and Tapadas.

A very fine set of silver stag salts by John Samuel Hunt (English, 1785-1865). The beautifully modelled stag is recumbent in a rocky outcrop between two gilt lined giant clam shells. Hunt was the renowned silversmith and nephew of the equally reputed silversmith Paul Storr. Assayed London, 1847, with Queen Victoria’ head certifying payment of duty, and bearing makers mark “JSH”. English, 1847S

A Weir & Sons of Dublin London boxed set of four silver menu holders of boar heads by Adie Brothers Ltd., of Birmingham. Each assayed Birmingham 1925, marked “A & Bros. Ltd” and to the base registered design number “75547”. Complete with original box marked “Weir & Sons 96 Grafton Street 1,2, & 3 Wicklow Street Dublin”. English 1925. Adie Brothers were a Birmingham firm of silversmiths with London premises. They were regular exhibitors, and these are possible the work of their chief designer Fernand Piret.

A 19th century polished cast iron, adjustable fireplace fender. Each end is mounted with a seated boar. The boars are modelled on “Il Porcellino”, the famous boar in the bronze fountain in Florence. The frieze displays a pierced and scrolled cast decoration, a central motif of oak leaves and a number of vines and grapes applied in brass. French, circa 1880.

A pair of 19th century, French 'Ryhton' form cornucopia opaline glass vases, mounted into ormolu bronze boar’s heads, upon rectangular black marble bases. Each opaline vase is profusely decorated with gilt and polychrome oriental birds, foliage and flowers. Clearly inspired by the architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart's (French, 1739 –1813) ‘cornet’ Sevres vases with boars, which are now on display in the Louvre. Brongniart derived the shapes from ancient Rhyton drinking vessels; the ‘Rhyton’ form originates from the ancient Greeks, and forms s conical horn shape, typically formed in the shape of an animal's head. French, circa 1870.

24 ) A magnificent and rare pair of large Louis XVI style gilt and bronze 'Ryhton' form cornucopia boar chenets / firedogs after Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart (French, 1739 –1813)
A magnificent and rare pair of large Louis XVI (1754 –1793) style chenets / firedogs in gilt and bronze. The chenets depict 'Ryhton' form cornucopia with fruiting swags that wrap and fall at the back, and a boar's heads resting on bronze plinths, with a gilt frieze. After architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart (French, 1739 –1813), whose son Alexandre Brongniart became a respected director of the Louvre. The Louvre has a pair of Sevres/Sèvres vases by Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart of similar form and shape, said to be the most astonishing pieces created in Sèvres during the First Empire. Brongniart derived the shapes from ancient Rhyton drinking vessels. The ‘Ryhton’ form originates from the ancient Greeks, a conical horn shape, typically formed into the shape of an animal's head. French, circa 1860.
