To the reverse the artist has written possible titles in ink “Patience” or “Ye’ll no be much longer?”, or “Not guilty, Miss us” and in pencil Isn’t Love Wonderful” suggesting the work was published. A “Marble Hill Gallery 72 Richmond Road Twickenham Middx” label to the reverse reads “C Ambler. The Two Friends, pencil and coloured mashes, heightened with white. Lived in Buckhurst Hill Esses , Exhibited two works at the Royal Academy between 1912-1914.” With stock number “P926ms”.

Scottish Terriers, "When Do we Eat?", by Morgan Dennis (American, 1892-1960) Dry point etching on paper of two seated Scottish Terriers, by Morgan Dennis (American, 1892 - 1960). Signed in the margin in pencil "Morgan Dennis" and titled on the mount "When Do we Eat ?". The image was also used in a Texaco Motor Oil advertisement with the caption "Listen! To the improvement in your engine". The "Texaco Company bought the copyright and distributed complimentary copies of "Listen" through "The Texaco Exhibit, Central Pier, 1400 Broadwalk, Atlantic City". Sculptures titled "Listen" were also produced.
