A patinated bronze horse head, wearing a gold bridle, stick pin. French, circa 1860. Such work was done by Jean-Valentin Morel (1794-1860) et Henri Duponchel (Morel et Duponchel) based at Rue Neuve Saint Augustin. Their work was retailed in the rich Parisian market.

An oil on canvas of a Royal Mail ‘Portsmouth to London (Bull & Mouth)’ coach laden with passengers and luggage crossing English heathland, by H. F. Jones (English, op, 1860–1870). The coach wearing the correct Post Office red wheels, and black panelling but with yellow doors, bearing the livery of the Bull and Mouth, Portsmouth Bull & Mouth London” above an image of a bull. The Bull and Mouth, Bull and Mouth Street (London) was a famous London coaching inn. Signed bottom right " H. F. Jones ". English, circa 1865. “Bull and Mouth” The great coaching-inn of Aldersgate Street, in the old time, was the “Bull and Mouth.” The original name of this inn was “Boulogne Mouth,” in allusion to the town and harbour of Boulogne, besieged by Henry VIII. But the “gne,” being generally pronounced by the Londoners “on,” it gradually became “an,” and it only required the small addition of “d” to make “and” of it. The first part being before this made a “bull” of, it was ultimately converted into the “Bull and Mouth.”

A wonderful and historic Royal Mail coaching oil on canvas of the "London to Salisbury" coach driving in the opposite direction and Moses Pickwick's coach both "Passing Stonehenge" by John Charles Maggs (English, 1819-1896). The Royal Mail bearing signage "Salisbury London" coach wearing the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, and Post Office red wheels. The "Mosses Pickwick" coach bearing signed "Pickwick Bath". Moses Pickwick, a coachman who was born in Pickwick, lived in Corsham at the "Hare and Hounds" inn, and ran coaches between Bath and London. (Corsham was the inspiration for Charles Dickens' novel The Pickwick Papers. It is said Dickens borrowed Mosses Pickman's name for his novel Pickwick Papers). Signed and dated bottom left "J. C Maggs /95". The reverse bears gallery label for "Daniel Rees Fine Art Dealer Jackson Michigan", and a further "14. An oil on canvas of The Donnybrook Horse Fair, Dublin by Richard Barrett Davis (English, 1782-1854), painted on the artist’s visit to Dublin. The historic Donnybrook Fair was founded in 1204 by a royal charter of King John. Held in late August to mid-September, the fair became one of Ireland's principal markets. Today's dictionaries define Donnybrook as a free-for-all or brawl owing to the "rough merriment" for which the fair came to be known. The fair was abolished in 1868. English, circa 1830. A bracelet with a Baume & Mercier of Geneva gold watch, set either side with reverse intaglio crystals of hunters jumping white picket fences, then stirrups and associated tack. Possibly commissioned through / for "The Crossroads of Sport Inc New York". Marked to the reverse “14k”. Swiss / English / America circa 1960’s.

A watercolour with pencil and gouache on buff paper of four in hand carriages at the Royal Richmond Horse Show before the Royal box in Richmond’s Old Deer Park by Alfons Purtscher (Austrian, 1885-1962). Signed and dated bottom right “A Purtscher 1927”. The Royal Richmond Horse Show was started in 1892 by local vet WJ Hatton and grew into a major equestrian event. By 1967 it became part of the South of England Show, but was briefly revived in the 1990's by local residents. Austrian 1927.

The Yarmouth Royal Mail “Woodbridge Yoxford” coach with seven up parked at the “Three Cups Hotel” Colchester, outside the offices of “The Old Blue Coach Office” and “Star Coach Office” beneath a full moon evening, by James Pollard (English, 1792-1867). The coach fully laden, wears the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the town name “Woodbridge” and “Yoxford” signifying the coach’s route. The reverse bears the gallery label of “Arthur Ackermann & Sons Ltd 3 Old Bond Street, London W1 Established 1783”. Signed and dated middle bottom “J Pollard 1831”. English, circa 1831. An historic oil, the “Three Cups Hotel”, Colchester stood on the north side of the High Street from 1701 until its demolition in 1972, having been rebuilt in 1886. Pigot's directory stated that the Royal Mail coach left the Cups every night at 12.15 for London. This would seem to be about the time of night Pollard recorded the coach.
