A mid 19th century oil on panel of a London to Leeds Royal Mail coach . carriage/ six-in- hand driving through deep snow on approach to a village by Henry Thomas Alken Snr. (English, 1785 – 1851). The coach wearing the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door. The reverse bears stencilled Christie’s number N 843 to the reverse. English, circa 1830.

A 19th century gold and diamond coaching brooch A very finely worked and well detailed 19th century gold, platinum and 38 old cut matching diamond brooch in the form of a Royal Mail four-in-hand coaching / carriage brooch. The carriage with four wheels, two movable and wearing platinum tyres. The swingle tree acting as a safety clasp. The carriage door is adorned with a heraldic swan. English circa 1890.
