A pair of late 19th century bronze and bronze doré hunting / ‘chasse’ wall sconces / ‘appliques’, after the éminent 18th century master founder Jean Joseph de Saint-Germain (French, 1719-1791). Both draped oak leaves and acorns, the two arms similarly decorated. One depicts a boar’s / sanglier head, the other a stag / cerf. French, circa 1880.

A 19th century Versailles / Medici shaped Vase Sarreguemines Majolica boar head vase. The heads surround by oak leaves and acorns, the vase similarly decorated with oak leaves and acorns and the interior of the vase is of sky blue colour typical of the production of the Sarreguemines factory at this time. It bears the Sarreguemines Majolica mark and “909” hollow under cover. In “Guide de l'amateur des faïences de Sarreguemines” by Emile Decker and Christian Thevenin, number 909 is the ‘Versailles Vase’ French, circa 1886

A Weir & Sons of Dublin London boxed set of four silver menu holders of boar heads by Adie Brothers Ltd., of Birmingham. Each assayed Birmingham 1925, marked “A & Bros. Ltd” and to the base registered design number “75547”. Complete with original box marked “Weir & Sons 96 Grafton Street 1,2, & 3 Wicklow Street Dublin”. English 1925. Adie Brothers were a Birmingham firm of silversmiths with London premises. They were regular exhibitors, and these are possible the work of their chief designer Fernand Piret.

A 19th century polished cast iron, adjustable fireplace fender. Each end is mounted with a seated boar. The boars are modelled on “Il Porcellino”, the famous boar in the bronze fountain in Florence. The frieze displays a pierced and scrolled cast decoration, a central motif of oak leaves and a number of vines and grapes applied in brass. French, circa 1880.

A pair of 19th century, French 'Ryhton' form cornucopia opaline glass vases, mounted into ormolu bronze boar’s heads, upon rectangular black marble bases. Each opaline vase is profusely decorated with gilt and polychrome oriental birds, foliage and flowers. Clearly inspired by the architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart's (French, 1739 –1813) ‘cornet’ Sevres vases with boars, which are now on display in the Louvre. Brongniart derived the shapes from ancient Rhyton drinking vessels; the ‘Rhyton’ form originates from the ancient Greeks, and forms s conical horn shape, typically formed in the shape of an animal's head. French, circa 1870.
