A rare motoring reverse intaglio crystal gold and diamond set stock pin / brooch, Said to be The Lord Nuffield, then William Richard Morris, 1st Viscount Nuffield GBE CH FRS (1877 – 1963) and wife with chauffeur. Though possibly Lord Dudly’s four-cylinder chain-driven 1901 Panhard. English circa 1901.

A highly detailed circular reverse intaglio 9 carat gold set crystal pendant of a Victorian twin mast and twin funneled steam yacht. Five lifeboats clearly evident. Marked to the reverse “June 5th 1900, June 16th 1900, April 11th 1901”. English, circa 1901. Reverse intaglio crystals are commonly and erroneously often called Essex Crystals.

A gold mounted reverse intaglio crystal of the Bulldog from Philip Reinagle RA (1749-1833) 1790 painting. Philip Reinagle's painting was later published in Taplin’s “Sportsman's Cabinet” of 1803. The crystal in rope and petal gold mount. In the celebrated “The Practical Book of the Dog” by Edward C Ash, published in 1931, he interestingly writes “Note the resemblance to the French Bulldog of to-day”. English, circa 1880

44 ) Reverse Intaglio Crystal brooch of two horses heads set in gold.
Marked to the reverse 'Dorothy Cooksey Marcus Xmas 1909' The brooch is further stamped 'Marcus & co', the mark of the highly respected New York jewellery firm, Marcus & Company. Dorothy Cooksey Marcus came to England in 1912, deserting her husband and children claiming her affection were grater for her horses and dogs than her family. It was interestingly reported in The New York Times of 19th August 1915. Reverse intaglio crystals are commonly and erroneously often called Essex Crystals.
