Agnew & Sons Ltd” label “No. 24116” “London 43, Old Bond Street, Piccadilly, W”. Then a further typed label “Sir E. Landseer R.A. (1802-1873) “A Peasant Women Bruges” From a sketch-book”. Circa 1835 Landseer painted Louisa, Marchinoness of Abercorn (1812-1905) as a ‘cottage girl’ in similar attire. Peasant women were not an unfamiliar subject by Landseer there are several such drawings in The Royal Collection. English, circa 1830. Provenance: - Thomas Agnew and Sons No 24116

A very finely worked and well detailed 19th century gold, platinum and 38 old cut matching diamond brooch in the form of a Royal Mail four-in-hand coaching / carriage brooch. The carriage with four wheels, two movable and wearing platinum tyres. The swingle tree acting as a safety clasp. The carriage door is adorned with a heraldic swan. English circa 1890.

The coach wearing the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the name of the town at the start and end of the coach's route “Bristol London”. A pen and ink drawing of ‘The Exhibition of Hayter's picture of The Trial of Queen Caroline’ by Sir Edwin Landseer R.A. (English, 1802-1873). The 'trial' of Queen Caroline in 1820 was not technically a trial but a parliamentary debate on a bill designed to grant the King a divorce. Sir George Hayter (1792 – 1871) was a notable English painter, specialising in portraits. Landseer had known George and his brother John since childhood and both contributed major historical paintings to the Duke of Bedford’s gallery at Woburn Abbey. Today Sir George’s painting can be seen in the National Portrait Gallery.

Spaniel"; March - "Nipped in the Bud - Wire-Haired Terrier"; April - "Raw Material - Welsh Springer Puppies"; May - "Visiting The Coops - Ilchester Retriever"; June - "The Long Vacation - Foxhounds"; July - "Near The Holt - Otterhounds"; August - "The Twelfth ... Setter"; September - "Brace-Work ... Pointers"; October - "A Busy Team ... Cockers"; November - "Full Cry ... Foxhounds"; December - "Tender and True ... Retriever". English, 1906. The Sportsman's Calendar edition was limited to just 100 sets, each signed by Maud Earl, and came in a case designed so that a different that a different photogravure could be displayed for on month of the year.

50 ) Weir & Sons boxed set of George V silver boar menu holders by Adie Brothers Ltd.
A Weir & Sons of Dublin London boxed set of four silver menu holders of boar heads by Adie Brothers Ltd., of Birmingham. Each assayed Birmingham 1925, marked “A & Bros. Ltd” and to the base registered design number “75547”. Complete with original box marked “Weir & Sons 96 Grafton Street 1,2, & 3 Wicklow Street Dublin”. English 1925. Adie Brothers were a Birmingham firm of silversmiths with London premises. They were regular exhibitors, and these are possible the work of their chief designer Fernand Piret.
