An oil on canvas of The York and Edinburgh Royal Mail Coach trapped in a snow drift on a country lane by James Pollard (English, 1792–1867). Two coachmen encourage the horses while another man tries to unblock the wheel, and another on one of the horses rides off in the field behind; trees behind for help. The coach fully laden, wears the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the name of the town at the end of the coach’s route.Signed and dated 1827. English 1827.

That same year Barber painted Elizabeth's parents Mr James Fletcher and Mrs Jas Fletcher. Possibly the James and Jas Fletcher's of the Rosehaugh Bennetsfield, Ethie, and Avoch estates.

"Dogs at Bay”, a pencil drawing of two English terriers playing with a hedgehog by Sir Edwin Henry Landseer R.A. (1802-1873) from 1824. The drawing is illustrated, as a woodblock (Plate XXXII), in “The Works of Sir Edwin Landseer” by W. Comos Monkhouse. Titled “Dogs at Bay”. The author refers to the dogs as ‘English terriers’. Possibly a study for “Jocko” a terrier and hedgehog commissioned for Lieut-Col Peers William, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1828. The reverse bears label for Watling Street Galleries. English, 1828 Provenance: - Charles William Mansel Lewis - "The Works of Sir Edwin Landseer RA” by W Cosmo Monkhouse, published in 1879 which was "illustrated by 44 steel engravings and about 200 woodcuts". - Watling Street Galleries, 116 Watling Street East, Towcester, Northamptonshire

An oil on canvas of The Donnybrook Horse Fair, Dublin by Richard Barrett Davis (English, 1782-1854), painted on the artist’s visit to Dublin. The historic Donnybrook Fair was founded in 1204 by a royal charter of King John. Held in late August to mid-September, the fair became one of Ireland's principal markets. Today's dictionaries define Donnybrook as a free-for-all or brawl owing to the "rough merriment" for which the fair came to be known. The fair was abolished in 1868. English, circa 1830. Titled “The Spaniel” and dedicated “To the Right Honourable Baron Northwick F.S.A. &c. &c., this print is with permission humbly dedicated by his lordship's most obedient servants, Moon, Boys & Graves”. “London,Published July 1 1830 by Moon, Boys & Graves. Agnew & Sons Ltd” label “No. 24116” “London 43, Old Bond Street, Piccadilly, W”. Then a further typed label “Sir E. Landseer R.A. (1802-1873) “A Peasant Women Bruges” From a sketch-book”. Circa 1835 Landseer painted Louisa, Marchinoness of Abercorn (1812-1905) as a ‘cottage girl’ in similar attire. Peasant women were not an unfamiliar subject by Landseer there are several such drawings in The Royal Collection. English, circa 1830. Provenance: - Thomas Agnew and Sons No 24116

A magnificent pair of early 19th century, Sèvres, enamel and soft paste porcelain hunting vases. The bases with seated Borzoi and Foxhounds in soft paste porcelain, the bodies polychromed with horseback and dog hunting scenes in tree adorned landscape. Stag and boar heads in soft paste porcelain applied to distinctive 'bleu celeste' border. Marked to the base with the Sèvres 'intertwined' double 'L', inset with an ‘M’, and the painter’s mark ‘277’. French, circa 1830.

The Yarmouth Royal Mail “Woodbridge Yoxford” coach with seven up parked at the “Three Cups Hotel” Colchester, outside the offices of “The Old Blue Coach Office” and “Star Coach Office” beneath a full moon evening, by James Pollard (English, 1792-1867). The coach fully laden, wears the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the town name “Woodbridge” and “Yoxford” signifying the coach’s route. The reverse bears the gallery label of “Arthur Ackermann & Sons Ltd 3 Old Bond Street, London W1 Established 1783”. Signed and dated middle bottom “J Pollard 1831”. English, circa 1831. An historic oil, the “Three Cups Hotel”, Colchester stood on the north side of the High Street from 1701 until its demolition in 1972, having been rebuilt in 1886. Pigot's directory stated that the Royal Mail coach left the Cups every night at 12.15 for London. This would seem to be about the time of night Pollard recorded the coach.

Engraving was published 1847 by Henry Graves, by the engraver Samuel Cousins RA (1801-1887), after the oil was titled "Beauty's Bath" painted in 1839 by Sir Edwin Landseer (1802-1873) , for Sir Robert Peel, twice British Prime Minister. This is the artist's proof before letters signed in pencil 'E Landseer' and 'Samuel Cousins' further initialled 'EL' with another indecipherable penciled initial. The painting is of Sir Robert Peels's daughter "Miss Elise (Elizabeth) Peel" cuddling her King Charles Cavalier "Fido". (On her marriage she became The Hon. Mrs Francis Stonor).

The coach is depicted speeding along a dusty country road, passing a milestone at the brow of a hill. The coach wears the correct Royal Mail livery of a black with red door and lower panels, and Post Office red wheels. Signed and dated lower left “J.F. Herring 1839”. To the reverse remnants of gallery label for Thomas Agnew & Sons. English, 1839.
