A mezzotint of two Pointers in a forest setting engraved by William Ward ARA (English, 1762-1826) after the painting by John Nost Sartorius (English, 1759-1828). Titled "POINTERS. London, Published June 16th 1806 by James Linnell No. 2, Streatham Street, Bloomsbury". Lettered bottom left "T N Sartorious" and bottom right "Engraved by W. Ward, Engraver to H.R.H. the Duke of York." The Lennox-Boyd database lists three states not listed by Frankau: (i) proof before letters; (ii) with closed letters and the word 'Proof'; (iii) with the word 'Proof' erased. This is the third state. There is an example in the collection of the British Museum.

A watercolour and gouache on buff paper of the English Pointer, Champion Flagon of Ardagh standing in moorland by Reuben Ward Binks (English, 1880-1950).Champion Flagon of Ardagh (sire, His Majesty by dam, Mignonette) was the 1932 Crufts winning Pointer dog and famously sired Maesydd Megan. Flagon of Ardagh was from the famous kennels of Mr H E Witwell, Haughton-le-Skerne, Co. Durham whose other winning dogs included "Ch. Fleet of Ardagh" and "Int. Ch. Felicity of Ardagh". Mr & Mrs H.E.Whitwell's 'Ardagh' Kennels were also known for their Irish Setters & English Setters. English, 1932. Titled bottom left "Flagon of Ardagh" and signed and dated bottom right "R Ward Binks 1927".

Titled in pencil 'Field Trial Champion Mary Blue .... Norias Roy' signed and dated 'Bert Cobb'. American, circa 190. Bears label to the reverse: 'Sutter Buttes WildLife Gallery 224 C St., Yuba City, Ca 95991' ?Mary Blue? was a famous liver and white bitch whelped 4th May 1923, and was the National Field Champion for 1929 and 1931, and the National Free-For-All Championship for 1930 Walter Clark Teagle's 'Norias Roy' was a famous liver and white dog who was the National Free-For-All Championship for 1930, and who won the Continental trials in January, 1933. Walter Clark Teagle (May 1878 - January 9, 1962), was responsible for leading Standard Oil to the forefront of the oil industry and significantly expanding the company's presence in the petrochemical field. He owned the famous Norias Kennels.
