51 ) Cat & Maltese reverse intaglio locket
A rare reverse intaglio cat crystal with "Maltese" dog crystal to the reverse. Set in Gold locket, both crystals framed in old cut Diamonds. Reverse intaglio crystals are commonly and erroneously often called Essex Crystals

52 ) A 19th century cast brass and bronze Maltese fireplace fender / chenets , modelled on "Ninette".
A 19th century polished brass and bronze Maltese extendable fireplace fender / chenets. Each end mounted with seated ormolu bronze Maltese dogs. The sculpted dogs are modelled on "Ninette", a work for Pierre-Jacques-Onésyme Bergeret de Grandcourt from the end of the 18th century.

A late 19th century oil on canvas of a head and shoulder study of a Maltese / Bichon type dog holding in the mouth “Le Figaro”. Signed, top right indecipherably. The work is in the manner of Jules I Chardigny (France, 1842-1892). “Le Peintre et L’Animal en France au XIXᵉ Si è cle” by Elisabeth Hardouin-Fugier, illustrates a similar dog holding a copy of “La Republic” and the dog is named “Brutus”. That work is unsigned. French, circa 1880.

54 ) 19th century bronze Maltese fire irons / chenets , modelled on "Ninette"
19th century bronze Maltese extendable fire irons / chenets. Each end mounted with seated ormolu bronze Maltese dogs, on plinths with Louis XV decoration of scrolled feet and neoclassical faces, the central one being a sphinx. One dog rests their paw on a ball. The dog sculptures are modelled on the dog "Ninette" for Pierre-Jacques-Onésyme Bergeret de Grandcourt at the end of the 18th century.

An oil on canvas of a seated Maltese and recumbent Papillion / Phalene in landscape setting by Friedrich (Fritz) Zeller (Austrian 1817- 1896). Signed and bottom left "F Zeller 1860". Titled and dated to the reverse "Prunne, Dido. 1860." The canvas bearing manufacture's stamped "Wien". Possible the canvas maker 'Anton Maurer Wien.
