A silver gilt Schafer perfume flacon with a reverse intaglio crystal of a tabby cat to the lid. Retailed by P&E Schafer of 27 Piccadilly. The crystal very finely carved and painted, and especially three dimensional. Marked inside the lid “Schafer 27 Picadilly”. Reverse intaglio crystals are commonly and erroneously often called Essex Crystals. English, circa 1900.

The cat wears a gold set old cut ruby collar, has an old cut emerald eyes, it’s body is densely covered in old cat diamonds Playing with a real ball the paws are finely and deeply carved, as are facial details and the tail. 87 ) Chow Chow by B Griffiths (English, op late 19th)
A Welsh / English provincial school oil on canvas of a red Chow Chow standing on a rug in an interior by B Griffiths. Signed and dated bottom right “B Griffiths. 1881.” Dated 1881 this is a very early image for the breed. Several Chow Chows were housed in London Zoo in the Wild Dog area and 1865 Queen Victoria was presented with some Chows. But public interest in Chows for breeding and exhibition begun in 1879 when Mr W K Taunton’s black Chow Chow bitch named Chinese Puzzle came to England. It was not until 1887 when the Marchioness of Huntley imported a male dog who she called Periodot, that lead to the famous kennels established by Lady Granville Gordon and Lady Faudel Philips. A rare English ‘Crystallo-Ceramie’ / ‘sulphide’ cameo four-in-hand coaching / carriage gold set brooch. ‘Crystallo-Ceramie’ / ‘sulphide’ jewellery was patented in 1831 by the glassmaker Apsley Pellatt. Such jewellery was very fashionable in the 1830’s and 1840’s. English circa 1840.

A mid 19th century oil on canvas of the Stroud London Royal Mail meeting a returning coach by Charles Cooper Henderson (English, 1803-1877). The coach wearing the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the name of the town at the end of the coach's route “Stroud London”. Signed with discreet monogram on a passing rock "CH". "R. and A. Ackermann” label to the reverse. Cooper Henderson had a long association with Ackermann. English, circa 1850.

A silver gilt cigar case with enamel coaching / carriage scene of four-in-hand with passenger aboard outside a mansion besides a park, by George Antony Heath. The silver gilt interior assayed London 1897, with maker’s mark “GH” being that of George Antony Heath then of George Heath & Co. In 1887 George Heath is recorded as making a silver snuff box in enamel depicting a coaching scene for Tiffany & Co. Of Union Square, New York. As well as New York clientele, Heath’s silver and enamel work was retailed by such high end London establishments as Carrington & Co., of 130 Regent Street, Walter Thornhill & Co., of 144 New Bond Street, and Henry Lewis & Co., of 172 New Bond Street. English, 1897.

A late 19th century reverse intaglio crystal coaching / carriage / four in hand gold brooch, unusually depicting the carriage head on. In original sculptured box bearing jewellers label “S Kohn & Co. Princess, St. North, Dunedin, Watchmakers, Gold & Silversmiths”. Kohn & Co, were jewellers in Lambton Quay, Wellington, New Zealand, run by Mr Siegfried Kohn. New Zealand / English, circa 1880.
