The reverse bears number “4” label “Mrs Ellen S Shaw, 6 Colney Hatch Lane, Muswell Hill, London, N.10”, with “Title:- The Late Ch Raleigh” and “Price:- £8:8:0”. In gilt frame. Most likely the artist’s exhibition piece. English, circa 1937.

An oval miniature on ivorine of a head and shoulder study of “Trudi”, a West Highland Terrier by Vera Haslam RMS (English). Signed at the bottom “VH”. In gilt pendant / easel backed frame, behind convex glass. The reverse reads “'Trudi' Vera Haslam R.M.S 1975/ Exhibited Royal Society of Miniature Painters London, 1975". A card inserted to the reverse reads "6. ‘TRUDI’ MRS VERA HASLAM ? ST ANTONY’S RD. BOURNEMOUTH N.F.S". As this miniature was not for sale it is possibly the artist’s own West Highland Terrier.

The Whippet titled "Vic" by Gertrude Massey (1868-1957) signed "Gertrude Massey". Set within original gilt-metal frame with pierced ribbon crest. "A Casualty" was exhibited in 1900 at "The Fine Art Society's", New Bond Street, London "Exhibition of Miniatures of Dogs by Mrs. Gertrude Massey". English, circa 1900. Provenance by family descent.

An ivory rondo watercolour miniature of “Nuppy” Wire-haired Fox Terrier head study by Mrs Dorothy Oliver (Exh. 1905-14). Monogrammed bottom right “DO”. Labelled in ink to the reverse “Nᴼ. 3 “Nuppy” Dorothy Oliver Liberton House Mid Lothian”. Set in gilt pendant frame. This is believed to be on of the artist’s 1907 exhibits at The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. Circa 1907.

A head and should study ivory miniature in watercolour of a young Wire-haired Fox Terrier by Miss Margaret E Smith (English, Ex. 1909 -1914). Titled bottom left “DOT”. In pencil to the reverse “Dot painted by Miss Margaret E Smith Didbrook Glos 1913”. The frame also includes the remnants of the framers card “by appointment to his Majesty The King .... Charlotte Street Fitzroy Square London”. English 1913.

110 ) An ivory miniature of a Yorkshire Terrier in kennel silver frame
An ivory miniature of a standing Yorkshire Terrier mounted in a silver frame in the design of a kennel. The kennel design being patented, and the bottom right of the frame bears the registration mark "Rd.329067" The design was registered by the silversmiths James Samuel Bell & Louis Willmott of Bell & Willmott, suppliers to Bond Street retailers, and whose frames are in the The Royal Collection of the Queen. The reverse bearing the retailers name "Dobsons & Sons 32 Piccadilly. W.", and twice assayed London, and dated, 1918. The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Dobsons & Sons specialised in sporting jewellery and took commissions and were famed for their reputation "likeness guaranteed".

A miniature on ivory of a Yorkshire Terrier wearing a rich blue satin bow seated on a pedestal. Set in a 9 carat gold frame. Assayed Birmingham 1911, and marked “EM&S” for Birmingham frame makers E Mander & Son, (1897-1921). English, 1911.

An ivory miniature in watercolour of a Yorkshire Terrier mounted in a pendant frame set with matching pearls attributable to Gertrude Massey (English, 1868 - 1957). The pampered pet wear blue satin collar and bow. Inscribed in ink to the reverse “Wuzzie DIED MARCH 3RD 1906”. English, circa 1900.
