A very fine pair of bronze hunting / chasse, tazza / coupes attributable to Christophe Fratin (French, 1800-1864), depicting boar and Setter masks amongst vine and oak leaf and branch decoration. The handles in the form of tree branches. Inside the tazza / coupes ornamented with a bee. French, circa 1840

A very fine and rare German bronze , circa 1900, of a setter at work. Note the unusual slip collar. Inscribed to the side of the base "Seinem scheidenden Kommandeur Herrn Oberst Hopfe, das Offiziercorps des 4. Magdeburg. Infanterie Regiments No. 67, 18.4.03 - 18.5.05". Clearly an appreciating gift to Kommandeur Hopfe, comanber of the 4th Magdeburg. Infantry Regiments No. 67, from 18.4.03 - 18.5.05. German circa 1900.

A pair of English, early 19th century, bronze Pointer / Setter / hound sconces /candelabra, on rectangular bases. The dogs on a chamfered rectangular base stand beneath Rocco acanthus scroll work, and single sconces on which are hung cut glass ‘icicle’ drops. English, circa 1820.

A late 19th century, Coalbrookdale Foundry cast iron garden Setter / hound seat / bench. Grape decoration to the back, the side supports of vines and serpent, and the arms with Setter / hound head and paw feet. English circa 1890. This is a variant of a casting design, produced circa 1844, by the Coalbrookdale Foundry. The Coalbrookdale design, number 17597, is the second oldest seat design registered and patented by the Foundry at the Public Records Office, on 6th April 1844. It further appears as seat No. 9 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue, Section III, page 249

A tall, painted, antique cast iron stick stand with oak twig and leaf decoration and two holders, above a seated Setter. The stand has removable semi-circular drip tray stamped 'C.G.F.' The model was popularised by Coalbrookdal. English.

A pencil drawing of a setter on the scent by Sir Edwin Henry Landseer R.A. (1802-1873). The drawing is illustrated, as a woodblock, ‘‘Fig.27 page 37 “The Works of Sir Edwin Landseer” by W. Comos Monkhouse titled “On the Scent”. That image is slightly cropped, the drawing here complete with some canine studies near the margin. The author refers to the dogs “as a cross between a pointer and setter”. It is though more likely a setter. The reverse bears label for Watling Street Galleries. English 1819. Provenance: - Charles William Mansel Lewis - "The Works of Sir Edwin Landseer RA” by W Cosmo Monkhouse, published in 1879 which was "illustrated by 44 steel engravings and about 200 woodcuts". - Watling Street Galleries, 116 Watling Street East, Towcester, Northamptonshire

A bronze of a Setter / Braque at work by Georges Gardet (French, 1863-1939), this casting unusually mounted on chiselled marble terrace. The foundry for this work was the 'Societes Des Bronzes de Paris'. Carved into the marble “Georges Gardet”. French, circa 1900 Gardet was made an Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1900, and was a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, and the Society of French Artists.

A very rare mid-19th century cast iron garden Setter / hound seat / bench by the James Stephens Iron Works of Galway, dated 1851. With grape decoration to the back, the side supports of vines and serpent, and the arms with Setter / hound head and paw feet. Irish 1851 This is a variant of a casting design produced circa 1844, by the Coalbrookdale Foundry. The Coalbrookdale design, number 17597, is the second oldest seat design registered and patented by the Foundry at the Public Records Office, on 6th April 1844. It further appears as seat No. 9 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue, Section III, page 249 James Stephens’ foundry was on Merchant’s Road and they were responsible in 1851 for the cast-ironwork Lough Athalia Bridge, (one of the finest of its kind in Ireland), and iron work to the roof of the Galway terminus.

Beagles"; February - "... Spaniel"; March - "Nipped in the Bud - Wire-Haired Terrier"; April - "Raw Material - Welsh Springer Puppies"; May - "Visiting The Coops - Ilchester Retriever"; June - "The Long Vacation - Foxhounds"; July - "Near The Holt - Otterhounds"; August - "The Twelfth ... Setter"; September - "Brace-Work ... Pointers"; October - "A Busy Team ... Cockers"; November - "Full Cry ... Foxhounds"; December - "Tender and True ... Retriever". English, 1906. The Sportsman's Calendar edition was limited to just 100 sets, each signed by Maud Earl, and came in a case designed so that a different that a different photogravure could be displayed for on month of the year.
