Also published in 1930 by the Derrydale Press, New York in 'Marguerite Kirmse's Dogs' Introduction by R T Townsend', editor of Countrylife.
This was one of the artist beloved Scottish Terriers who would sit for hours by a tiny crack in the wall hoping that a mouse would appear. Kirmse recalls that she does not remember one actually appearing.

Scottish Terrier dry-point etching "Innocents Abroad" by Marguerite Kirmse (English, 1885 -1954) A dry-point etching of six Scottish Terrier puppies following their mother along the garden path, by Marguerite Kirmse (English, 1885 -1954). Titled in pencil bottom left "Innocents Abroad" and "(1st edition 2nd state)" and signed bottom right "Marguerite Kirmse". The etching bears the copyright mark bottom right "M K". Published in May, 1924. The image was also published in 1930 by the Derrydale Press, New York in "Marguerite Kirmse's Dogs" " Introduction by R T Townsend", editor of Countrylife. This is rare artist's proof, Kirmse approving the 1st edition of the 2nd state of "Innocents Abroad". Note in other signed editions of this etching Kirmse titles the work "The Innocents Abroad".

Published April 1929. American. In pencil, titled bottom left "Up for Inspection" and signed bottom right "Marguerite Kirmse".
The image, further appeared in "Dogs" by the artist, with an introduction by R. T Townsend published in 1930, by the Derrydale Press. Here Kirmse writes "This sketch for the dry point was made just outside the puppy house of my kennels. The combination of being so high of the ground and of being inspected by a much older dog was almost too much for this little fellow."

Here Kirmse writes "How we used to sit hour after hour watching the lazy gulls and listening to the rolling waves. One of these was my favourite of all dogs; she died this year I made this etching."
