Here Kirmse writes “This etching was hard to title because I did not want to give the impression of finality to the parting; for that reason the title “Left Behind” was rejected. I like to believe that the parting is only temporary and that the owner will return before long.”

The combination of being so high of the ground and of being inspected by a much older dog was almost too much for this little fellow.”
