"A Casualty" was exhibited in 1900 at "The Fine Art Society's", New Bond Street, London "Exhibition of Miniatures of Dogs by Mrs. Gertrude Massey".

An ivory miniature of a Yorkshire Terrier in kennel silver frame An ivory miniature of a standing Yorkshire Terrier mounted in a silver frame in the design of a kennel.
The kennel design being patented, and the bottom right of the frame bears the registration mark "Rd.329067"
The design was registered by the silversmiths James Samuel Bell & Louis Willmott of Bell & Willmott, suppliers to Bond Street retailers, and whose frames are in the The Royal Collection of the Queen.
The reverse bearing the retailers name "Dobsons & Sons 32 Piccadilly. W.", and twice assayed London, and dated, 1918.
The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Dobsons & Sons specialised in sporting jewellery and took commissions and were famed for their reputation "likeness guaranteed".

The reverse bears label “The New Gallery Summer Exhibition 1906” and completed in ink in the artist’s hand “H H Princess Toussoun’s Basset Hound “Count” Mrs Gertrude Massey 11 Melina Place Grove End Rd. N.W.
Is believed to be Princess Fatma Toussoun, nee' Ismail, (1851-1920) sister of Khedive Tewfik, Sultan Hussein & King Fouad I, a dog fancier particularly in the Pekingese breed.
The dog interestingly titled “Basset Hound” is clearly a variant of a Basset Griffon.
Signed bottom right “Gertrude Massey”
