Note the Spaniel on a cushion would have been inspired by the depiction of Dash, Queen Victoria's beloved Cavalier from Sir Edwin Landseer's 1837-1838 famous painting "His majesty's favourite dogs and parrot", also known as "Hector, Nero and Dash with the parrot, Lory", which can today be can be seen in the Royal Collection.

Possibly from the works shops at 134 Via del Babuino, Rome of Luigi Cavaliere Moglia, (1813ca - 1878).

(English, 1815-1885) An oil on canvas of two Manchester Terriers with the now extinct Old English white Terrier by Richard Ansdell, R.A. (English, 1815-1885). Signed and inscribed 'R. Ansdell Esq/7 Victoria Road/Kensington' on an old label on the reverse. Ansdell is recorded at living at this address from 1847 to 1861. In 1860 he was elected as an associate member of the Royal Academy, so most likely painted before gaining his letters ARA. English, circa 1850.

King Charles Cavalier Spaniel bronze sculpture Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1796-1875) A bronze of a pair of King Charles Cavalier Spaniels seated on a tassled cushion by Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1796- 1875).
It was made as a "presse-papiers" and exhibited at the goldsmith Fauconnier. For another example see the collection of the Walter Art Collection in Baltimore Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Museum. There is also an example owned by the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of America, that is given annually to the "Best in Show" recipient. Illustrated in "Barye: Catalogue Raisonn" des Sculptures (Gallimard, 2000), by Michel Poletti and Alain Richarme.

A "Black Forest" ivory carved Italian Greyhound / Whippet cuffstuds SOLD A pair of "Black Forest" ivory carved standing Italian Greyhound / Whippet cuffstuds cufflinks. Each cuffstud as one piece of ivory.
Such carvings were from German workshop of the Graf von Erbach-Erbach in Odenwald, and the Kehrer family at Erbach, Ernst (working 1830-40) and his son Edouard (1812-63). They were made from around 1830 to 1860.
In the jewellery collection of the British Museum, London, there is a brooch with the same dog seated with stag and deer.
