'Champion Dogs of England' illustrated forty paintings by the artist. To the reverse a Victorian lozenge mark being design number 235691, registered by 'T C Brown-Westhead Moore & Co', the 'Cauldon Place, Staffordshire Potteries on the 3rd November 1869.

This image of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 'Dash' is inspired from the 1838 painting by Sir Edwin Landseer RA (1802-1873), titled "Hector, Nero and Dash with the parrot, Lory", commissioned by Queen Victoria which today can be seen in the Royal Collection. Lory in fact belonged to H.R.H The Duchess of Kent. English circa 1870

Bruder Bloch company was specialized, from 1870 to 1910, in the production of decorative vases, tobacco jars or smoking services. The production ended in 1914 with the purchase of its production equipment by Meissen.

The creation of the photogravure plate was a complicated process requiring work by a photographer and experienced master-engraver. First, a copper plate was coated with a light-sensitive gelatine tissue which had been exposed to a film positive, and then etched, resulting in a high-quality intaglio print that can reproduce the detail and continuous tones of a photograph. It is a manual process leave a plate impression in the paper. The quality of the photogravure depends on the masterly execution by the engraver.
