Photogravure of “Queen Alexandra her Grandchildren and dogs†published 1905 by C.W.Faulkner, after the original painting by Frederick Morgan (English, 1856 -1927) and Thomas Blinks (English, 1860-1912). A photogravure of Queen Alexandra (1844 – 1925), Danish born wife of King Edward VII of England feeding her dogs a Borzoi, Scottish Deerhound, Four Collies, Schipperke and two Bassett hounds & pup, sugar lumps from a basket on her arm, besides the Royal kennels at Sandringham House. She is accompanied by Princess Mary Windsor (later The Princess Royal) 1897 -1965 beside her at right, Princes Albert George (later King George VI) 1895 -1952 and David Edward (later King Edward VIII) 1894 -1972 at her left, the keeper standing in the trees behind them at right, beyond at left a further man opens a gate to let another Collie join the group. A circa 1905 18 carat gold, diamond ruby King Charles Cavalier brooch by Charles-Eugène Thiénot A fabulous 18 carat gold, diamond ruby brooch of a head study of a King Charles Cavalier by Charles-Eugène Thiénot.The dog has cabochon cut ruby eyes and wears a diamond collar and bow mille grain and platinum set with 14 old cut diamonds. The reverse is inscribed “C Thiénot 3â€. The clasp is further stamped and assayed. French, circa 1905.
Charles-Eugène, and highly respected French jeweller, sculptor and Art Noveau artist who exhibited at the prestigious Paris Salon, circa 1900. Such pieces included canine and cat subjects. French, circa 1905
