A hexagonal bronze of Pointer and Setter in tree planted landscape pointing setting Partridge, hiding in wheat, retailed by James Muirhead and Son of Glasgow. The image inspired Pierre-Jules Mêne, “The Partridge Hunt” / “Chasse à la perdrix”. Stamped to the reverse “JAS. MUIRHEAD & SONS GLASGOW”. Muirhead were known to have a Paris agent to source and purchase the very best art coming to the market. In fact they some objects were marked “Jas. Muirhead & Sons Paris”. French, circa 1880.

5 ) From one of twenty five photogravures, including His Majesty The King's Irish Terrier 'Jack', on laid paper with the Abbey Mills and crown watermark, the photogravures on wove paper. A limited edition of 500, printed by Chiswick Press, London, and publish
The creation of the photogravure plate was a complicated process requiring work by a photographer and experienced master-engraver. First, a copper plate was coated with a light-sensitive gelatine tissue which had been exposed to a film positive, and then etched, resulting in a high-quality intaglio print that can reproduce the detail and continuous tones of a photograph. It is a manual process leave a plate impression in the paper. The quality of the photogravure depends on the masterly execution by the engraver.

A circa 1900 polychrome terracotta tobacco pot / jar / pot à tabac in the form of a black and white seated Cocker Spaniel, by Bruder Bloch (les fréres Bloch). Marked to the base lettered and numbered “BB 52”. Bruder Bloch Austrian, circa 1900. Bruder Bloch company was specialized, from 1870 to 1910, in the production of decorative vases, tobacco jars or smoking services. The production ended in 1914 with the purchase of its production equipment by Meissen.

24 ) Very rare 19th century cast iron garden Setter / hound seat / bench by the James Stephens Iron Works of Galway 1851.
A very rare mid-19th century cast iron garden Setter / hound seat / bench by the James Stephens Iron Works of Galway, dated 1851. With grape decoration to the back, the side supports of vines and serpent, and the arms with Setter / hound head and paw feet. Irish 1851 This is a variant of a casting design produced circa 1844, by the Coalbrookdale Foundry. The Coalbrookdale design, number 17597, is the second oldest seat design registered and patented by the Foundry at the Public Records Office, on 6th April 1844. It further appears as seat No. 9 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue, Section III, page 249 James Stephens’ foundry was on Merchant’s Road and they were responsible in 1851 for the cast-ironwork Lough Athalia Bridge, (one of the finest of its kind in Ireland), and iron work to the roof of the Galway terminus.
